Music Bad for the Mind

Someone asked me if music is bad for your mind; like anything else, it depends ;-)

The creators of the Baby Einstein and Little Einsteins obviously believe that music is very beneficial to the brain and there was an article in Scientific American that was referenced by wikipedia that claims significantly beneficial brain differences caused by music, although there is an opposing side that may disagree.

I'm pretty certain of music's effect on myself; certain types of music definitely induce altered brain states that may well be therapeutic and literally give me goose bumps when I hear them. No one style is better than another, it's all personal preference, some may like classical, some my like trance, and some may like something in between.

What do you think, is music bad for your mind?

I think that it depends on whether we are finding music soothing or not.
Very loud music mostly distracts me instead of increasing efficiency.

Music has a therapeutic effect on people. It all depends on the music though. The soothing type that gives you those "goosebumps" gives you a very unique type of healing that nothing else can ever compare to. Some people even say that "music is their panacea". It is their cure all medicine. I love the post though. Very interesting.

Yes, it depends. Music may be mind if it brings negative things on the lyrics or if it's too loud.

Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and vivacity to life and to everything.
